Snappis, Boingos, and Pins! Oh, My!

All Bubbleworks fitted diapers come without closures.  In my experience, each permanent closure option has serious downfalls.  Hook and loop closures wear out quickly, can scratch baby, and are easily removed by curious little ones!  Snaps have limited adjustability, can warp in excessive heat, and can leave terrible marks on baby.

I have used Snappis, Boingos, and pins with my diapers.

Pins are my least favorite.  They pose the greatest risk of hazzard to baby (and this clutzy mama!).  I could never get the diaper the proper tightness either.  If someone can teach me how, I would love to learn!  No picture here for my extreme lack of ability to pin!

Snappis are easy to use.  The teeth have a slight angle that makes them easily grip loose fabric weaves like terry, prefold fabric, gauze, and some knits (my knits snappi very well!).  I have trouble with them latching onto carpet.  I lost a big chunk of skin one time.  I have also had slight damage to diapers from the bottom portion of the T.

Boingos are fun!  I particularly enjoy that I only need to use one to close a diaper.  The teeth are angled very differently from Snappi teeth.  They seem much safer to me.  I also like that the closure is only on the tabs of the diaper and does not extend down the body.

Preparing Cloth Wipes

I've already written about my love for cloth wipes.  They are great for babies and toddlers, too!

These are my beloved wipes!  I chose a simple diamond plaid pattern in blue (my favorite color!) to use in the nursery and both bathrooms.  These wipes have been working hard for a looong time!  I have never had to re-stitch a single one.  They have, however, faded because I chose to bleach all my cloth diapers and accessories after recurring illness in our family.

Nice, neat stack of cloth wipes

I recently made a few new ones.  This is how they come out of the washer after the first time.  I designed my wipes so they can be pulled out of the dryer and neatly stacked as you see above.  It is quick and looks nice.

Bubbleworks Organic Hemp Fitted

This diaper played a huge role in my decision to open Bubbleworks.  My son peed out of his very first cloth diaper in one hour.  I decided that he needed a hemp fitted.  I didn't think that finding one would be impossible.  When I started searching, I found that all of the diapers for sale also included man-made fibers!  That was not acceptable to me.  So I made my own!

This diaper is perfect for super heavy wetters, long car rides, running errands, anytime you need baby to be in a diaper for a while, and overnight!!  If you have a very heavy wetter, you may need an additional Bubbleworks Organic Insert.

The outer is made of a snappi/pin friendly hemp terry.

The inner is hemp fleece.  The insert is a Bubbleworks Organic Insert.

Twenty pound baby in size 1.  The diaper should be able to be secured with only one pin or Boingo for the full size range.  It's time to size up!

Twenty pound baby in size 2.

Bubbleworks Cloth Wipes

The concept of cloth wipes was not appealing to me when I first started to cloth diaper.  I chose to cloth diaper primarily for the financial benefits, though I quickly discovered how awful disposables were to my baby's skin.  Even in cloth, the rashes didn't completely go away.  I realized that the wipes were the problem.  I bought some flannel and got busy sewing.  I was in love.  They worked well and the rashes vanished.

I've used them with water, a homemade recipe, and Baby Bits.  Baby Bits are definitely my favorite solution.  I buy mine locally at Green Baby Diaper.

Cloth wipes are also a fabulous financial investment.  You can buy five cloth wipes for the price of one pack of disposable wipes.  Twenty wipes is more than enough for me.  Sets of five make customizing the amount you need easy.  I hope you fall in love, too!

Why Choose Bubbleworks?

After the birth of my second child, I became convinced of the importance of using natural fibers against his skin. I also didn't want snaps leaving awful red marks or velcro scratching him. I realized that there were few cloth diapers on the market that would meet his needs. The ones I found that met my criteria were out of my budget.

So I bought high quality fabric and started sewing. Now I would like to offer those same diapers to you. I commit to bringing you an excellent fit through two sizes (one size doesn't work from birth and who wants to buy three or four sizes?!?), superb quality, affordability (the same prices or lower than those of the big companies), and superior customer service.
